Repetitive strain injury (RSI), also known as Cumulative Trauma Disorder (CTD), occupational overuse syndrome, or work related upper limb disorder (WRULD), is the most recent manifestation of illness concepts that link use of the arm to injury or disease. Prior to typewriters or computers there was the concept of "writer's cramp".

The basis for this illness concept is the idea that one can overuse a tool, such as a computer keyboard or musical instrument in a way that causes tissue damage leading to pain. Conditions such as RSI tend to be associated with both physical and psychosocial stressors.

You never stop being in love with a person you only get repulsed by its habits.

quote of the day:

"I have often asked myself whether, given the choice, I would choose to have manic-depressive illness...Strangely enough, I think I would choose to have it. It's complicated...I honestly believe that as a result of it I have felt more things, more deeply; had more experiences, more intensely...Depressed, I have crawled on my hands and knees in order to get across a room and have done it for month after month. But normal or manic, I have run faster, thought faster, and loved faster than most I know."

The following is a quote by Dr. Kay Jamison, a professor or psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University and a leading expert on bipolar disorder, who, herself has the condition.

I'm a charming blue-eyed blonde, and I wish to become a pen pal (by email or Skype) of a handsome and clever guy, interested in further real dates!

be yourself and the rest will follow

you wake up one lousy day and you find yourself broken. the pieces are all over but you can't see the whole pictures anymore. the last few months i felt so empty that the thought of killing myself made no difference.
i was a moving curse, a lost cause because i couldn't see the bright tomorrow. my world was not meant to be sick sad and depressed but surprising, unexpected and vivid.
i gave in to the charms of depression i let down myself many times. fell to the floor asking a reason for my misery but could not see the whole picture.
i had stopped my dreaming without thinking that my rambling was the biggest part of my personality. i moved through europe always feeling like a stranger even in my own house . i was seeking for reasons for not being happy while the "I" was absent.
finally i found something that put he smile back to my face.
my fellow dreamers.

Trouble
Oh trouble set me free
I have seen your face
And it's too much too much for me

Trouble
Oh trouble can't you see
You're eating my heart away
And there's nothing much left of me

I've drunk your wine
You have made your world mine
So won't you be fair
So won't you be fair

I don't want no more of you
So won't you be kind to me
Just let me go where
I'll have to go there

Trouble
Oh trouble move away
I have seen your face
and it's too much for me today

Trouble
Oh trouble can't you see
You have made me a wreck
Now won't you leave me in my misery

I've seen your eyes
and I can see death's disguise
Hangin' on me
Hangin' on me

I'm beat, I'm torn
Shattered and tossed and worn
Too shocking to see
Too shocking to see

Trouble
Oh trouble move from me
I have paid my debt
Now won't you leave me in my misery

Trouble
Oh trouble please be kind
I don't want no fight
And I haven't got a lot of time

she is lost control lyrics

Confusion in her eyes that says it all.
She's lost control.
And she's clinging to the nearest passer by,
She's lost control.
And she gave away the secrets of her past,
And said I've lost control again,
And a voice that told her when and where to act,
She said I've lost control again.

And she turned around and took me by the hand and said,
I've lost control again.
And how I'll never know just why or understand,
She said I've lost control again.
And she screamed out kicking on her side and said,
I've lost control again.
And seized up on the floor, I thought she'd die.
She said I've lost control.
She's lost control again.
She's lost control.
She's lost control again.
She's lost control.

Well I had to 'phone her friend to state my case,
And say she's lost control again.
And she showed up all the errors and mistakes,
And said I've lost control again.
But she expressed herself in many different ways,
Until she lost control again.
And walked upon the edge of no escape,
And laughed I've lost control.
She's lost control again.
She's lost control.
She's lost control again.
She's lost control.

today's ceremony (something i had to do a year ago)

A traditional Chinese gift to the attendees upon entering is a white envelope, usually enclosing a small sum of money (in odd numbers, usually one dollar), a sweet and a handkerchief, each with symbolic meaning. Chinese custom also dictates that the said sum of money should not be brought home. The sweet should be consumed the day of and anything given during the funeral must not be brought home. The repetition of 3 is common where people at the funeral may brush their hair three times or spit three times before leaving the funeral to ward off bad luck. This custom is also found in other East Asian and Southeast Asian cultures.

(from Wikipedia press for the full article)

more:

Guests were given small white envelopes containing a coin and a piece of candy. This package is called bak gim or "white gold." And it symbolized money or a gift from the deceased. The candy was to be eaten immediately after the funeral to sweeten the memory of the event. The coin was to be spent on something that would bring happiness to offset the solemn time.

Life is nothing but imperfection and the computer likes perfection, so we spent probably 90% of our time putting in all of the imperfections, whether it's in the design of something or just the unconscious stuff. How the camera lens works in [a real] housing is never perfect, and we tried to put those imperfections [into the virtual camera] so that everything looks like you're in familiar [live-action] territory.
